DESCRIPTION:
Ceftiofur is a semisynthetic, third generation, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, which is administered to cattle and swine for control of bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, with additional action against foot rot and acute metritis in cattle. It has a wide spectrum of activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It exerts its antibacterial action by
inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Ceftiofur is mainly excreted in urine and faeces.
INDICATIONS:
Cattle: oily suspension is indicated for treatment of the following bacterial diseases: Bovine respiratory disease (BRD, shipping fever, pneumoniae) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni (Haemophilus somnus); acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus; Acute metritis (0 to 10 days post-partum) associated with bacterial organisms such as E.coli, Arcanobacterium pyogenes and Fusobacterium necrophorum.
Swine: suspension is indicated for treatment/control of swine bacterial respiratory disease (swine bacterial pneumoniae) associated with Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis and Streptococcus suis.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Cattle:
Bacterial respiratory infections: 1ml per 50 kg body weight for 3 - 5 days, subcutaneously.
Acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1ml per 50 kg body weight for 3 days, subcutaneously.
Acute metritis (0 - 10 days post partum): 1 ml per 50kg body weight for 5 days, subcutaneously.
Swine: Bacterial respiratory infections: 1ml per 16kg body weight for 3 days, intramuscularly.
NOTE: Shake well before use and do not administer more than 15 ml in cattle per injection site and not more than 10 ml in swine. Successive injections should be administered at different sites
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins and other β-lactam antibiotics.
Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal function.
Concurrent administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.
SIDE EFFECT:
Mild hypersensitivity reactions may occur occasionally at the injection site, which subside without further treatment.
WITHDRAWAL TIMES:
- For meat:
Cattle: 3 days.
Swine: 4 days.
- For milk: 0 days.

Dosage and Administration |
Calculate on Ceftiofur. Intramuscular administration, a single dose, 3~5mg for pigs, once a day, for 3 days continuously. Subcutaneous administration , a single dose, 1.1~2.2mg for cattle, 3~5mg for pig,once a day, for 3 days continuously. Subcutaneous administration, 1 day old chicks, 0.1mg/ feather. |

Precaution | (1)The horse under emergency conditions may appear acute diarrhea when used this product, and can be causing death. In the event of withdrawal immediately and adopt corresponding treatment measures. (2) Mainly by the renal excretion , renal insufficiency animal should be paid attention to adjust the dosage. |
